"Don't worry about being popular, just be Biblical"

While praying for the Body of Christ. The Lord spoke this to my spirit and I wanted to share this with you. "Don't worry about being popular, just be Biblical (ShakinaPoet)."

John 15:18-25 (NIV) 18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’[b]

“People who are hated is not popular”(ShakinaPoet). As believers in Christ Jesus we have to be careful not to compromise God's word to fit in with the world, because we are of afraid of hurting someone feelings. Some of us are so overly concerned about what the world thinks of us, afraid of offending or beingpolitically correct. Certainly, as believers in Christ, we are not to go out of our way to offend anyone personally, but the truth is that Word of God itself is offensive because it’s contrary to the world system. And the preaching of the Cross go against living in or living a sinful lifestyle because the Word tells us in Matthew 16:24 “24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Equally offensive is the necessity of dying to self in order to follow Christ” (Gotquestions). The key word is deny. The world system tells us to indulge in and do whatever we like if we are not hurting anyone. But in God’s Kingdom we are too deny ourselves (flesh) and follow the example we have in Jesus Christ if we want to inherit the Kingdom of God.  This is not always easy but, we die daily to do so. 1 Corinthians 6:9–11”Or do you not know that the unrighteous2 will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: xneither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,3 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And ysuch were some of you. But zyou were washed, ayou were sanctified, byou were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

Remember it’s not our words its God’s word that convicts the world of sin. Our duty is to speak the God’s word in Love as God gives us the opportunity to witness to the unsaved; 1 Peter 3:15 ESV“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”

Or to restore our brother and sister in Christ who are living in a sinful lifestyle; Gal 6:1 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

The word of God was never meant to be comfortable; Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) “12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

The word of God is so sharp that it can pierce through any sin. I never been stabbed by a sword but I can only image is it not a comfortable feeling. “The Roman sword was commonly made in this manner. The fact that it had two edges made it easier to penetrate, as well as to cut in every way. The idea is that of piercing, or penetrating; the Word of God reaches the “heart,” the very center of action, and lays open the motives and feelings of those it touches” (Gotquestions.org).

But it was meant to challenge people to come out of their sin, repent of their sins and be converted to live a life according to God’s word through the power of the Holy Spirit. Acts 3:19 (KJV)19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”.

In closing, I just want to encourage my sisters and brothers in Christ. We are living in difficult times because Christ’s return in drawing near. Many believers in Christ around the globe are being killed for their belief in Christ Jesus. We don’t know if or when it will come to the United States. So let’s be grateful we have some freedom to worship as we like. But with freedom comes responsibility. And while we have freedom it doesn’t give us the right to sin willingly. Gal. 5:13-14 “13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

But let’s use our freedom to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ compelling the lost to come to Him. Stayed Blessed in Him the one who saved us from darkness and brought us in the marvelous light. Shakina Poet
